Dr. Pradip J. Morbia, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.C.C.P.

Dr. Morbia moved to the Port Arthur area from Los Angeles area, where he had a very busy cardiology practice. Because the traffic in that area did not allow him to reach his patients in a timely manner in an emergency, he decided to move to the smaller city of Port Arthur so that he could provide his patients with the best care available, including emergency care. Prior to being in Los Angeles, he was trained in cardiovascular medicine in the Chicago area, at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. There he trained for seven years in different areas of medicine, including rotating internship in various fields of medicine and surgery. He completed three years of internal medicine residency and three years of the cardiovascular medicine fellowship training program.

Dr. Morbia has been practicing as an interventional cardiologist since 1988. Dr. Morbia was brought in to start the open-heart surgery program at Park Place Medical Center, and he performed the first ever percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (balloon angioplasty of the coronary artery) at Park Place Medical Center. To date he has done more than 25,000 cardiovascular cases. Dr. Morbia is the senior-most interventional cardiologist living and practicing in the Mid and South-Jefferson County area. To date, he has recruited eight cardiologists into practicing in this area. After establishing himself, he rapidly expanded his practice to Christus St. Mary's Hospital, Mid-Jefferson Hospital, and Doctor's Hospital which is now Renaissance Hospital. Under his leadership, Gulf Coast Cardiology Group, P.L.L.C. has already served more than 100,000 patients in the Mid and South-Jefferson County area. Dr. Morbia is triple board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Internal Medicine and is a fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians.

He has been married to his beautiful wife, Jayshree, since 1982 and he has two wonderful sons, Roshan and Ravi. Roshan went to the University of Chicago for his undraduate degree, majoring in Mathematics and Biology. Since then he has graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX and is set to become a plastic surgeon. Ravi graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and is studying to become a web designer.

Dr. Morbia and his group believe in seeing patients personally, and patients are never seen by nurse practitioners or physician assistants. As specialists, they provide care in the field of cardiovascular medicine, and feel each patient deserves to be seen and evaluated by the cardiologist himself, not an assistant or nurse practitioner.

Since 1989, Dr. Morbia and his group of board-certified cardiologists provide prompt, professional service, and personal care to all of their patients. Dr. Morbia's philosophy is "Hearts cannot wait." He believes that all patients should be seen as soon as possible, and he does everything in his power to see patients the same day they call for an appointment. In addition, he is available to patients and other physicians at all hours by telephone or through the hospitals. His goal is to be accessible for any questions a patient may have, so they are comfortable in the knowledge that their cardiovascular needs are met.
